Iyorwuese Hagher’s play, The Camps of Segbwema, explores the theme of cultural conflict and the clash between hegemony and the periphery. The President of an unnamed African country is given the condition of destroying their cultural secret society, the Bondo Society, to secure a loan from the World Bank and IMF. The common people refuse to enforce the order.

Professor Iyorwuese Hagher is one of Africa’s finest playwrights. He was Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico and Canada and currently lives in Dayton, Ohio.
